Our Story

All over the world, roads are an getting increasingly dangerous. Year on year there’s more traffic and more potential risk. You only have one life, so why cut corners with your own safety - stop thinking ‘it will never happen to me’.

Veglo lives by the mantra, Smarter Not Brighter. We take existing problems and use available technology to re-work current solutions to increase your safety at times of little or no light.

We’re a tight-nit team that focuses on making practical, purposeful, problem solving personal safety lighting solutions. We call it, the ‘Lots of P’s’. 

Ed and Lucy have both been victims of cycling accidents, where they were hit from behind. 25% of cycling deaths in the UK are when the front of a vehicle hits the rear of the bike.

Ed Ward

Founder, Product Design, Operations

Ed's favourite thing in the world is being outside. Ed's second favourite thing in the world is being outside on a bike. Commuting in London can be a dangerous business. After being knocked off his bike from behind and thrown into the middle of 4 way junction, Ed designed a rear light allowing drivers to judge width, distance and speed.

Lucy Lynn-Evans

Growth

After being run over by a truck when she was 21, bicycles gave Lucy the freedom and independence that walking could not. Now she is on a mission to make the roads a safer and happier place for all that occupy them, and is placing Veglo front and centre.

Brodie Willis

Designer – D2M Innovation

Brodie is a product designer at D2M Innovation who loves solving real-life problems. When Ed approached D2M with one, Brodie helped radicalise his idea and through the use of the latest computer aided design and prototyping techniques, turn it into reality. Without Brodie and D2M, Veglo would not be solving problems that other bike lights don’t. Find out more about Brodie and the D2M team here.

Philip Tan

Engineer and Quality Control Manager

Philip is a Super Hero. He operates under the cover of darkness and no one really knows what he looks like. Without Philip Veglo would not be producing the quality it does. Philip has over 25 years experience in mechanical and electrical Engineering for huge international companies such as iGo and RadioShack. Philip is based in Hong Kong and oversees all the factory work in China. 

Jack Hampson

Non – Exec Director

Jack is a Serial Entrepreneur with 10 years experience in building global Consumer Electronic brands. His knowledge of manufacturing, distribution and retail is exceptional, and has been fundamental to the acceleration of Veglo to date.
